Writer & Rider
I spend every free minute in the saddle.
I'm inspired by everything I experience from the back of a horse. Whether that's hanging on for dear life dodging cars on the road, chasing herds of deer, or looking over a wild vista while a storm gathers––all of that ends up in my art.

WRITE. THROW. RIDE.
I write LGBT+ Fantasy for Young Adults and Adults.
I also throw pots. I also ride horses.
But mostly I write books.
THROWING THINGS IS FUN
Pottery is a fun, dirty, grounded way to make something instantly. What I mean is, a book takes a year or more to write. It's ephemeral for most of the creation process. But pottery I get to hold, use, and admire within a fairly short amount of time. Clay is full of possibilities. I can make a mug and from the same bag of clay make a skull-shaped flower pot.
It also helps that people seem to enjoy what I do with pottery. Whether it's a unicorn mug, a hand-illustrated teacup, or even something as simple as a cereal bowl, I try and add something special and magical that makes each piece fun, functional, and a little bit fantastic.
I love my cup so much!! It's unique and cute, the care put into its creation is evident, and customer care was above and beyond. Can't wait to see more wonderful pieces made by Mikki!
